An open, casual conversation about first-principles thinking: breaking problems down to their core truths and building understanding from the ground up, rather than relying on memorized steps, tutorials, or whatever’s trending.
Ever notice how the best engineers, analysts, architects, and even musicians and creatives aren’t always the ones who know every tool or technique? They’re the ones who understand why things work. In cloud, AI, cybersecurity, music, and creative work, tools and trends change constantly. What doesn’t change is the underlying way you think about problems.
This isn’t a lecture or a training session. It’s a conversation. Bring your questions or your experiences, or just come to listen and learn from others.
We'll talk about
- What it means. What first-principles thinking actually means, with examples from tech, cloud, AI, security, and creative fields like music and art.
- Why it matters. Why understanding concepts makes you more adaptable and valuable long-term, whether you’re job-hunting or building something of your own.
- How to shift. How to move from “which tool do I need to learn” to “what am I actually trying to solve or create”.
- Real stories. Stories from members: where thinking from first principles helped, or where skipping it caused problems.

Whether you’re completely new to tech, mid-career, deep into cloud/DevOps/AI/security, or coming from music, art, or another creative angle. Anyone who wants to think more clearly and build a stronger foundation, not just collect more tools. No experience required.
